Commitment Phobe

G-Shock speaks with
electronic beeps
hourly reminders of tired bodies
lacking
i lay
in artificial blue TV glow
as i wait to quench
alarm clocks thirsty beacon
with snooze
stark white reality like
bed sheets
and popcorn ceilings
unconscious embrace of extremities
mimic tableware
reverie
in her touch
her passion
her love
her smell lingers
in nostrils
not really awake
or asleep
i feel safe
too safe
that's what i tell
myself
but nothing ever last
for me

writers block

a breath
a sigh
the sound of raindrops
pitter pat on
patio plastic
as a cat seeks comfort on
a windowsill
pepsi max washes down
frozen chimichangas but
do little for
waistlines
a mile jog
seems like 26
but soothes like
a birthday shot
my homecoming
a dirty dish
remanence of a chimichanga
stain
ikea glassware
as i search for meaning
of words jogged out and
jotted down
on loose leaf
i take a breath
and sigh
and i am
thankful

a thought

no one believes in romantic persistence anymore ... now a days its called stalking ...

13 February 2009

partly cloudy

can you hear it
i can hear it ... or
i thought i heard
a herd of white hoofed feet
trotting on by
or was it ...
all in my mind
can you see them
i could see them
in the grey skies
grey birds ... gooses ... geeses
circling overhead
or is it ...
just a figment of my
imagination
issues
float away like clouds
burned away by the sun
returning with the morning
fog ... (if the conditions are right)
most times it's
cloudy

aaaa ... yea

... the afore mentioned title of this piece just so happens to be one of my favorite catch phrases ... almost always dished out with a hint of sarcasm ... apropos that i use it on the first of many rants, as i make my foray into the realm of the blogging scene ... aaaaa yea ... has a certain ring to it ... i can hear it now, years later as i look back on my memoirs, the phrase synonyms with my writing career ... aaaa yea? well? we shall see ... we shall see indeed ... so now let us begin at the beginning someone eloquently put it ... it had taken some time for me to put together a theme for my blog ... i seen so many over the past months and i didn't know which direction to take mine ... i mean for real ... you got the pro foodie blogs(i like some of those) ... i'm a fan of a couple of music blogs(self explanatory) ... i seen some product review blogs(very funny) ... political blogs(witty very witty) ... corporate blogs(some of those guys are really pigs) ... and finally, the average real person blog like mine ... i'm not going to write under an assumed name ... most of the things i write about are going to be real events and inspired by real people or places (names will be changed to protect the innocent) ... you most likely are going to get the occasional opinion with a young minority's slant ... and yes the real reason for this blog ... poetry ... so sit back, buckle your seat beat, let's get ready to rumble, welcome to the first day of the rest of your life, and any other over used catch phase in blogdom .... without further ado ... welcome to my blog ...

open your eyes

I'm sick of all the puffy foo foo
shit i been reading these days
love this love that
oh how cute ... oh how nice
i read poems about how lovely the sun is
or fucked up poems about shoes
or some major fucked up shit about
someone in love one day
then break up the next day
only to find true love
2 weeks later in someone else?
give me a fucken break
with your fucked up lines
and your fucked up rhyming shit
i want some reality and I'm not talking TV
or Anna Nic or Posh Spice
i am talking real shit
about civil war
US soldiers
getting killed and maimed
for higher oil profits and a US friendly Arab state
Weapons of Mass Destruction = War On Terror
NO Weapons of Mass Destruction = War On Terror
say what?
all the while the press diverts your attention with Extra and ET
MTV BET CMT anything with asses and bling
how about some really hot shit like genocide in Africa
Rwanda Darfur
humans killing humans
but you don't know because your world is so small and
only includes Vegas LA and Miami
so you need something a little bit closer to home or
homeless
something right in front of your eyes
yea that's it
how about that guy
that you ignored while you walk on by
with that wad of cash that you got in your pocket
only to feed the corrupted backward ass corporate Starbucks
how does that mocha taste now?
flavored with the blood of nations upon nations
the blood of natives and slaves
the sweat and tears
of immigrants and stowaways
political refugees
order up that oppression and discrimination
over sexual orientation
and color
oh yea add whip
on the shit ...
But you can't taste it because you don't see it
so you don't know it
so it's not there
and that is just exactly what they want

open your eyes ... think ... express ...

untitled

i got into my car today and it smelled
like your
perfume and cigarettes
and i thought about your laugh
and how i got
lost in your eyes
and i thought
how we don't walk
we stroll
like we are in another time
and i feel lucky
on pier 7
feeling like i won a
cool million
and i think back
and smile
because little things
i see
remind me of
you

extra drink tickets
stolen lighters
champagne glasses
big hand bags
DPT metermaids
